The Quartz project came about when Funk Me co-founders Dean Eager & Andy Rowlett met up with PJ Carroll. The guys all share the same view that DJ’ing can be too pigeon-holed and that in order to express their true talents they needed to form their own club night. Quartz believe that it’s the DJ’s job to play the right record for that moment within the broad music policy of the night and many promoters can be a little bit too controlling and specific (“can you stick to vocal, chunky, electro-tinged, speed-house?”!!!) and because of this the punters and DJ’s lose out.
We could write a big long list of the things we strive to achieve. But essentially, it’s to give people a damn good party with the very best house music as the soundtrack to the whole night. Really it’s about putting a smile on peoples faces and giving clubbers and the DJ’s a top night, in the best venues, so you can “Dance like no-ones watching”
